A morning in Bohemian Switzerland (Rynartice)
by admin on Aug.01, 2010, under photos
After a very long time, thanks to my friend Víťa, I’ve taken some fresh pictures of Bohemian Switzerland. Waking up in 4am and on the place at 4,30am – a really fresh morning! The weather was not perfect, but the national park is beautiful in any conditions…

Arches National Park

Arches National Park is a U.S. National Park in eastern Utah. Arches National Park contains the world’s largest concentration of natural stone arches. This National Park is a red, arid desert, punctuated with oddly eroded sandstone forms such as fins, pinnacles, spires, balanced rocks, and arches. The 73,000-acre region has over 2,000 of these “miracles of nature.” When I was there this year, the weather was changing every minute – and that is the best weather for photography, as you may see…

Born in 1946, Yann Arthus-Bertrand has always been fond of nature. It was in the late 70s, in Kenya, while studying with his wife Anne the every day life of a pride of lions that, that he truly became a photographer. He understood that he had to tell the facts through images rather than words. He also discovered the beauty of the world seen from above when he became a hot air balloon pilot and began experimenting aerial photography.
Mono Lake – The Trail

This photo was taken at The Mono Lake in United States this year on my trip to US. I like the colours of the mountains and the way in front. The Mono Lake area is a great place for great shots and it is quite near to the Bodie State Historic Park. I’ll talk about my trip to Bodie in winter next time!

Zion National Park is a national park located in the Southwestern United States, near Springdale, Utah. A prominent feature of the 229-square-mile park is Zion Canyon 15 miles long and up to half a mile deep, cut through the reddish and tan-colored Navajo Sandstone by the North Fork of the Virgin River. I was in Zion for only one day on my trip to the US, but it is the place where I want to go again.

One of my first photos from the USA 2010 trip. It was a beautiful time, great trip and 2,613 new photos in my Aperture gallery. It will take some tome to process it… This is one of the favorites from the trip. The shot is taken near Mono Lake.
Boreal Owl (Aegolius funereus)
by admin on Feb.17, 2010, under photos
Another shot from National Park Bohemian Switzerland – wildlife workshop with Ondra Prosický in 2009. Aegolius funereus breeds in dense coniferous forests also across northern North America, and in mountain ranges such as the Alps and the Rockies. It lays 3-6 eggs in a tree hole. Across much of Europe, and to a lesser extent in Asia and North America, naturalists and biologists put up nest boxes for these and other small owls.
Nikon D3, Nikkor 70-200mm f2.8 + TC – ISO 800, 400mm
This smallish owl eats mainly voles and other mammals but also birds as well as insects and other invertebrates. It is largely nocturnal, though in the northern most parts of its range, it is forced to hunt during daylight because of the very short nights in summer.
Lakes of Killarney

The Lakes of Killarney are a renowned scenic attraction located near Killarney, County Kerry, in Ireland. They consist of three lakes – Lough Leane, Muckross Lake (also called Middle Lake) and Upper Lake. It was a nice time staying here, unfortunately only for one night on my trip on Ireland. But I’ve got a nice weather in the evening and did this shot…
Krkonose Mountains

We have only a low mountains in the Czech Republic (the highest peak has 1,602m) but Krkonose are beatiful. I’ve made a lot of shots from Krkonose to my Magical Places project. This shot is taken near “Vysoké kolo” and looks like a picture from a fairy tale.
